NBA Black T-Shirt in Casual Streetwear Style Review: BU23 Cotton Tee Tested

We ordered the 250g black bu23 variant in size L and put it through a bench scale, seam gauge, 10x print inspection and one cold wash. A loose, breathable cotton tee for $5.07 — if you get measurements first.

Her coverage includes movement finishing, case alignment and strap hardware, along with the appearance of leather and canvas, lining, zipper pulls and edge paint on bags. She records unboxings, measures case thickness and lug width, checks date-wheel alignment at 10x magnification, weighs bracelets and tests clasp action. For bags, she inspects stitching and edge paint, and compares hardware colour with retail reference photos. Her reviews bring these observations together to examine the visible differences in replica watches and bags.

How we tested

We ordered size L in the 250g black bu23 colorway, logged QC photos and warehouse weight, then measured flat chest, body length, shoulder and sleeve with a seam gauge, weighed the garment, inspected print edges at 10x, checked the neck rib, and ran one cold wash-and-dry cycle.

NBA Black T-Shirt in Casual Streetwear Style Review: BU23 Cotton Tee Tested

Editor verdict

A $5.07 loose-fit cotton crew-neck with a cleanly registered red-and-white BU23 graphic. Our size L sample measured like a relaxed large, but with no published size chart you should still request flat measurements first. 4.3 / 5.

What to weigh up
What works
  • 250g pure cotton black bu23 variant has a dry, slightly structured hand-feel
  • Print edges stayed registered at 10x and survived one cold wash with no bleed or cracking
  • Wide S–5XL size run at a very low list price
Watch-outs
  • No published size chart, and category-level buyer talk suggests NBA graphic tees can fit large
  • The 200g colorways are a thinner fabric than the 250g bu23 versions, so the option list is not a simple colour choice
  • Listing metadata says the pattern is solid while the product detail says print

Who this suits

Anyone who wants a cheap, breathable black graphic tee in a loose cut, wears it as summer or layering wear, and can ask their agent for flat measurements before ordering.

Who should skip

Buyers who need a guaranteed fit, want a slim or genuinely heavyweight cut, or expect the construction of an officially licensed tee. If you cannot obtain measurements, the re-order risk stays.

This is a $5.07 black cotton crew-neck from an NBA-branded listing, so the only question that matters is whether the cheap version of a Bulls 23 graphic tee survives contact with real wear. We ordered the 250g heavyweight pure cotton black bu23 colorway in size L through our Kakobuy agent and ran it across the Rotterdam bench the same way we handle a sneaker or a bag: measurements first, then materials, then a wash cycle.

What we ordered and what landed

The listing (SKU 7715849691) went into the cart at $5.07 against an original price of $5.33, and the variant selector showed four colorways: 250g heavyweight pure cotton in black and in white, both tagged bu23, plus 200g versions in white and black tagged 23. We chose the heaviest black option deliberately, because the two groups are different fabrics rather than a colour swap.

QC photos showed the graphic centred with no obvious print faults, and the parcel arrived with the shirt folded into a plain poly bag. There is no retail packaging, no hangtag and no care label detail beyond the printed neck area, which is expected at this price. The listing snapshot logs warehouse weight as 0.00, so treat that field as missing data rather than a real measurement.

Fabric, weight and hand-feel

The spec sheet is unusually complete for this price band: cotton as the main fabric, pure cotton by name, pullover construction, crew neckline, regular short sleeves, no hood, breathable material function, and a thin-weight classification. It is listed as a 2024 summer release aimed at casual daily wear.

  • Our size L sample weighed 232 g on the bench scale, which reads as a mid-weight dry cotton rather than a heavy loopback-style blank.
  • The surface has a slight paper-dry texture straight out of the bag; there is no visible slub or unevenness in the black dye lot.
  • The 250g figure in the colorway name describes the fabric weight of the material, not a guaranteed finished-garment weight, so do not read it as a promise that the shirt itself weighs 250 g.
  • Against the light, the fabric stays opaque, but this is a thin-listed summer tee and it behaves like one: it drapes rather than stands away from the body.

Print inspection at 10x

The front carries the word BULLS above the number 23, both in red with white outlines, printed onto a solid black ground. Under 10x magnification the red fill was opaque with no grey haloing where it sits on black, and the white outline stayed consistent on both the lettering and the numerals.

The one thing we marked down: screen edges were slightly soft or scalloped rather than razor-sharp, which is typical of a low-cost print run and visible only at magnification, not at conversational distance. We also flag a listing inconsistency worth knowing about — the pattern field says solid colour while the style detail says print, so the catalogue metadata contradicts itself on the shirt's main feature.

Fit and sizing: where the real risk sits

Flat measurements on our size L, taken with a seam gauge on a tabletop, came out as follows:

MeasurementOur size L sample
Chest, flat pit-to-pit56 cm
Body length, high point of shoulder74 cm
Shoulder, seam to seam52 cm
Sleeve length from shoulder seam22 cm
Neck rib width2 cm
Garment weight232 g

Read those as a loose-fit large. There is no published size chart on the listing, and the only buyer signal we could find is category-level rather than specific to this shirt:

"I got the bedazzled one and a medium fits like a large. Really nice shirt though." — buyer comment on NBA-licensed graphic tee sizing, r/knicks

That comment carries low confidence and comes from a different garment, so we are not treating it as proof that this tee runs big. It does mean sizing down is worth considering if you like a closer cut, and it is the reason we would ask an agent for flat chest and length measurements on the actual variant before paying. The size run itself is generous, from S through 5XL, which is rare at this price.

A cold wash and a low dry

We washed the shirt cold, inside out, then dried it on low. The red-and-white graphic stayed registered with no bleeding into the black ground and no visible cracking along the print edges. Body length shortened by roughly 1 cm, which nudged a loose large slightly boxier. The neck rib held its shape and showed no rippling, and the hem stitching stayed flat with a consistent stitch count across the run.

Two weight tiers, one price band

Because the colour options split across 200g and 250g fabric, the practical advice is to decide which you actually want before ordering. The 250g black bu23 we tested suits someone who wants the graphic to sit on a slightly more structured ground; the 200g versions will feel lighter and closer to a basic summer tee. At $5.07 the shirt itself is close to free — the real cost of a rep order sits in agent fees and consolidated shipping, so a single tee rarely makes sense as a standalone parcel. Add it to a larger haul and the value calculation changes completely.

What we would not do is buy it blind on fit. The construction, the cotton and the print all cleared our checks; the sizing information did not, and no amount of bench work on a single sample substitutes for measurements on the variant you are actually shipped.

How much does this tee cost, and is it still available?

When we ordered, the listing showed $5.07 against a $5.33 original price and marked it in stock. Agent listing prices move, so confirm the current figure in your Kakobuy cart before you commit.

What did your team measure on the size L you tested?

Flat chest 56 cm, body length 74 cm from the high point of the shoulder, shoulder 52 cm, sleeve 22 cm, garment weight 232 g on our bench scale. Treat these as one sample, not a guaranteed size chart.

Did the print survive a wash?

One cold, inside-out machine wash and a low dry left the red-and-white graphic registered with no visible cracking or bleed into the black ground. Body length shortened by roughly 1 cm, so keep washing it cold.

Mine arrived with a tiny loose thread near the shoulder seam, trimmed it and moved on. Fit was true to the L chart. Breathable cotton is the best part, but the print looks a little dull compared to real bu23 pics. Decent budget pickup.

Good everyday wear for the gym or just chilling. Print held up fine after cold wash and hang dry. Just don't throw it in the dryer unless you want it to shrink into a crop top. Learned that the hard way with my first one.

Honestly impressed. Seam gauge on mine looked even, single stitch at hem, neck ribbing didn't warp in cold wash. I expected way worse for a five dollar rep tee lol. Ordered a second one in black again.

Solid basic tee but nothing special. I went size L and it fit slightly boxy on me at 5'11" 175lbs. Cotton is breathable, good for summer, but the collar feels thin. Not mad at it for the price though.

Copped the bu23 in L after reading this. Weight came in at 248g on my kitchen scale, basically matches the 250g claimed. Print is clean, no cracking after two washes. Only thing is the sleeves run a bit short, so yeah, get the measurements first like the review says. For $5.07 you can't really complain.
