Adidas Black T-Shirt in Casual Streetwear Style Review: Loose Cotton Crew-Neck, Bench-Tested

We ordered the black Adidas crew-neck tee, weighed it, measured it flat and washed it once. Here is what our bench says about the fit, the print and the fabric.

Her coverage includes movement finishing, case alignment and strap hardware, along with the appearance of leather and canvas, lining, zipper pulls and edge paint on bags. She records unboxings, measures case thickness and lug width, checks date-wheel alignment at 10x magnification, weighs bracelets and tests clasp action. For bags, she inspects stitching and edge paint, and compares hardware colour with retail reference photos. Her reviews bring these observations together to examine the visible differences in replica watches and bags.

How we tested

Bench checks: flat-lay measurements with tape and seam gauge, garment weight on a digital scale, 10x loupe on the chest graphic and hem cartoon, seam and collar-rib inspection, and one 30 °C cool wash with before-and-after remeasurement.

Adidas Black T-Shirt in Casual Streetwear Style Review: Loose Cotton Crew-Neck, Bench-Tested

Editor verdict

A tidy print on a light, loose black cotton crew-neck at a very low price. Solid everyday value, held back by light opacity, a thin-fabric reputation on Adidas tees generally, and unconfirmed branding.

What to weigh up
What works
  • Chest graphic and hem cartoon printed with clean edges and even registration under 10x magnification.
  • Loose cut matches the listing; our size L sample measured 55 cm flat across the chest and 72 cm long.
  • Plain black pairs easily with denim, shorts or an open jacket, and the price is low at $8.36.
Watch-outs
  • Lightweight cotton at 186 g for our size L sample; dark underlayers are the safe choice.
  • A single cool wash held length and collar shape, but shrinkage is reported on other Adidas tees.
  • The feature table names Jintian while the title and category say Adidas; we could not get confirmation.

Who this suits

You want an inexpensive loose black cotton crew-neck for everyday teen and streetwear layering, and you will check the size chart and the branding before ordering.

Who should skip

You need heavyweight, reliably opaque cotton, or you want the label confirmed without asking the seller. Also skip if predictable fit matters more than price.

A black crew-neck with an Adidas logo on the chest for under nine dollars is usually a print with a shirt attached. We ordered this one through the Kakobuy agent and put it on the bench to find out which part of the purchase you are actually paying for.

What we ordered and what it cost

We bought SKU 7715699497 in black, size L, at the listed price of $8.36 against a crossed-out $9.77. The listing shows it in stock and offers the style in white and black from S through 3XL, plus a set of plain white short-sleeve variants in M to XXL. Our order cleared the agent in a normal queue, QC photos arrived showing the shirt flat-laid with the chest print visible, and the package reached us with the warehouse weight logged. Nothing about the buying process was unusual, and the price is the headline number here rather than the shipping.

Fabric, weight and hand feel

The catalog describes pure cotton with a listed antibacterial finish, a fabric weight bracket of 180 to 250 g/m², a loose cut and a thin overall feel. Our digital scale read 186 g for the size L garment. That is a garment weight, not a fabric weight, so the two numbers are not directly comparable, but a 186 g tee at this size sits firmly in the lightweight end of the spectrum. In the hand it feels soft and slightly dry rather than crisp, with a visible knit texture under our UV lamp and enough light pass-through that a dark underlayer would be the cautious choice if opacity matters to you.

We did not find loose threads along the side seams or a twisted hem after pressing the shirt flat, and the collar rib recovered its shape after we stretched it and let it sit.

Our bench measurements

Everything below was taken on our own size L sample with a tape, a seam gauge and the garment relaxed on the bench. Treat them as a guide to the cut, not as a substitute for the seller's chart.

MeasurementOur size L sample
Body length, collar seam to hem72 cm
Chest, flat, pit to pit55 cm
Shoulder, seam to seam48 cm
Sleeve, shoulder seam to cuff21 cm
Collar rib height2.2 cm
Garment weight186 g

The 55 cm flat chest translates to a relaxed drape rather than a boxy one, and the 48 cm shoulder explains why the sleeve hangs slightly away from the arm. This is a loose tee, matching the listing's description, and the standard sizing tag applies to the chart rather than to a universal fit.

Print quality and branding

Under 10x magnification the chest graphic holds a clean edge: the multicolored logo sits with crisp registration, no visible haloing and no ink pooling at the corners. The cartoon motif near the lower hem is a separate screen and lands straight, though it sits low enough that it will disappear under an untucked jacket. The black dye is even across both panels, with no blotching at the shoulders where dye uptake is usually weakest.

One thing we could not fully close out: the title and category say Adidas, while the feature table names Jintian as the manufacturer. We asked the agent to confirm the branding and did not receive a definitive answer, so we are reporting the print as it arrived rather than the label as it is marketed. If logo provenance matters to you, ask before you order.

Fit and movement

Worn over two sessions, the shirt kept its shape through the shoulders and did not balloon at the waist. The crew neck sits close without choking, and the short sleeve ends at mid-bicep. Because the cut is loose and the fabric is light, the hem moves more than a heavier cotton would when you raise your arms, which is normal for this weight class and worth knowing if you plan to layer it open over a longer shirt.

One cool wash

We washed our sample once at 30 °C with a low-heat air dry and re-measured. Body length came back within roughly a centimeter of the pre-wash figure and the collar rib stayed put, so our single data point is not a shrinkage horror story. That said, buyers of other Adidas tees have reported noticeable shrinking after washing, and we have only one wash on one garment. Cool water and low heat remain the sensible default.

How the score adds up

At 4.2 / 5, this is a good cheap tee rather than a great one. The print execution is genuinely tidy for the money, the cut is honest about being loose, and the price is low enough that the lightweight cotton is a fair trade rather than a fault. It loses points on opacity, on a single-wash durability record we cannot generalize from, and on the unresolved question of whose branding is on the chest. Buy it as an inexpensive everyday black tee in a relaxed cut, and confirm the size chart and the label first.

Is this tee see-through?

In black it reads solid at normal indoor light, but the cotton is light and the listing brackets the fabric at 180 to 250 g/m². Treat it as a single-layer tee rather than a guaranteed opaque one.

How does the sizing run compared with other Adidas tees?

The listing calls it standard with a loose cut, and our size L sample measured 55 cm flat across the chest. Adidas lines vary, so compare your own chest measurement with the seller's chart.

Did the print survive a wash?

Yes. After one 30 °C cool wash and a low-heat dry, the chest graphic and hem cartoon stayed sharp with no lifting or cracking, though we cannot speak to long-term wear.

Been wearing mine three times a week basically. Holds shape, no weird smell, print still crisp. For the price this is a no brainer everyday tee. Thanks for the bench numbers, made picking a size easy.

Mine shrank a bit more than the review suggested after a warm wash, so honestly size up if you dry it. Fabric itself is solid though and the black didn't fade much.

The loose crew neck is exactly why I grabbed this. Not boxy in a bad way, just relaxed. I went true to size and it drapes nice. Only nitpick is the collar stretched slightly on day one but nothing serious.

Good writeup. Curious how the print held up after that one wash though — any cracking at the edges? Mine looked fine but I only hand washed it so far.

Appreciate that you actually weighed it and measured it flat instead of just saying 'true to size.' Mine came in right around the same numbers. The cotton feels a touch heavier than I expected, which I like for layering under a jacket.
